SKOWHEGAN – When Bangor pitcher Sam Bedore recorded the final out of Tuesday night's Eastern Maine Class A softball title game against Skowhegan, Terry Michaud had sat in on his last game as director of athletics at Skowhegan Area High School.
Because the SAD 54 school board has decided to no longer fund the position, the duties of AD will go to assistant principals within the administration. The breakdown:
• Lucille Faucher-Kuhlman, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, cross country, boys and girls basketball, cheering, skiing, softball, baseball.
• Randy Jarvais, football, fall cheering, golf, wrestling, ice hockey, indoor track, bowling, boys and girls tennis, track & field.
Jarvais will be responsible for purchasing and bookkeeping, and the athletic budget. Faucher-Kuhlman will be responsible for scheduling, the facilities and keys.
“I want to again thank everyone for all your dedication to SAHS athletics,” Michaud wrote in an email to school officials. “We have built a program you can be proud of and I am sure things will continue along those lines. Coaches, it’s been a pleasure to work with you all, you’re the best!! Fellow AD’s, you will always be my brothers in arms and I will miss you all very much. I will not be far away.
Good luck to you all!”
