Crusaders sweep Riots at Bangor Auditorium

On the final day of the John Bapst Preseason Basketball Tournament, it was a good start for the Crusaders in the morning session as the girls defeated Orono 45-19 and the boys overcame a large deficit to defeat the Red Riots 66-61 at the Bangor Auditorium.

Bapst led by six points at half time, but a 23-0 third quarter put the Red Riots away. Paige martin led the attack scoring nine of her game high 12 points in the quarter.
Joining Martin in leading Bapst to the win was Abby Pyne with eight points and both Taylor Edgecomb and Riley Boyle with six points.

Scoring for Orono was Kate Berry, Jillian Woodward, and Andi Foster with four points each, Jade Keezer with three points, and Ashley Thibeault and Morgan Dickey with two points each.
In the boys game, the Crusaders trailed by 15 points after the first quarter and fell behind by as much as 20 points early in the second quarter. They battled back with a balanced offense that saw 11 of 12 players notching at least one point and outscored the Red Riots 39-23 over the second half for the five point victory.

Leading Bapst in scoring was Luke Philippon with 15 points and Chris Hammond with 13 points. Sean O’Donnell scored nine points and Jordan Charpentier added eight points.

Nate Paul scored a game high 21 points to pace Orono. Justin White added 13 points, Tyler Eddy had nine points, and Caleb Church scored eight points.
