Medomak Valley girls, Bangor boys pick up preseason wins

Saturday afternoon at the Bangor Auditorium, the Bangor Rams and Medomak Valley of Waldoboro basketball teams split their games in the John Bapst Preseason Basketball Tournament with the Panthers pulling out a win in the girls game and the Rams cruised to victory in the boys game.

The Rams and Panthers were knotted at 20-20 by the half time break, but Medomak out scored Bangor 33-20 over the second half to come away with a 53-40 victory. Erica Christensen and Allana Vose combined for 15 points in the second half to lead the panthers attack.
Leading the Panthers in scoring was Christensen with 11 points and Vose with 10 points (8-for-8 free throws). Kasey Benner scored seven points and Nicole Weaver added six points.

Kristin Henigan topped the Rams in scoring with a game high 12 points. Marissa Grandchamp added eight points, Hillary Throckmorton had six points, and Caroline Hetterman scored five points.
In the boys game, Zach Blodgett scored eight points in the first quarter to lead the Rams to an 18-11 lead and Bangor never looked back as they cruised to a 62-38 victory.

Blodgett led the Rams in scoring with 11 points, while Brandon Thayer and Josiah Hartley each added eight points, Patrick Stewart had seven points, and both Zach Campbell and Seth Freudenberger scored six points.

Topping the Panthers in scoring was Isaac Durkee with 11 points, Isaac Green rose with nine points, John Murray with seven points, and Shane Osler with five points.
