HAMPDEN – Despite periods of high winds and three hail showers, the Brewer Witches got solid pitching performances from Emily Cox and Morgan Haradon as the pair combined on a 4-hit shutout to lead the Witches to a 3-0 victory over Hampden Academy in a mutual season opener Thursday at the Weatherbee Complex in Hampden.

Cox worked the first 5 2/3 innings of the game allowing four hits, two walks, and striking out six. Haradon come on in relief with two out in the bottom of the sixth and the bases loaded, the only threat the Broncos had in the game, and retired the first batter she faced to get out of the inning.
