Bangor---- Jake Jones is one of the reasons that the Penobscot Valley Howlers baseball team are expected to be one of the top teams in class C this season. Jones showed why on Tuesday afternoon. Jones pitched a complete game three hitter in the Howlers 10-0 victory over the Bangor Christian Patriots.
Jones struck out 10 and did not issue a walk. Bangor Christian only got one runner as far as second base. Jones only got to a three ball count on three Patriot batters.
"I like to work ahead and throw first pitch strikes," Jones said. "It is a lot easier to pitch when you don't walk people or hit people. I try to make them hit and let our defense do their job. I threw a lot of fastballs but the curveball was also effective. I threw some sliders but they were not a great portion of the pitches."
