The PCHS Pirates set the tone early with 3 up 3 down in the first inning. Leadoff batter Sarah Hoak walked, Lindsey Morrill bunted and beat the throw to first, then Maggie Abbott drove in 2 runs with a line drive triple to left field. Abbott got home with a squeeze play bunt from Danielle Spaulding making it a 3-0 ball game going in to the second inning.
Kristen Weeks started the 2nd inning off with a single for the Pirates, Sarah Hoak got on base with a fielders choice, Lindsey Morrill walked, Abbott also got on with a fielder choice driving in Sarah Hoak who was safe at the plate. Then, Meagan Weeks hitting drove in Morrill and Abbott with a double up the third base line ending the second inning with a 6-0 lead.
The third, fourth, and fifth innings were scoreless for the Pirates, but in the sixth inning the Pirates scored 3 more runs on 3 Stearns errors. M. Weeks did have a single in the sixth.
For the Minutemen in the third inning, Brooke Brooker got on base with an error from the Pirates and stole her way to score the first run for Stearns. In the fourth, Taylor Pelkey singled, followed with a RBI double from Alyssa Beaulieu. Brooke Brooker and Emily Work both singled in the fifth inning, but Stearns was unable to capitalize. Alyssa Beaulieu singled in the sixth and also stole her way home to score the final run for the Minutemen. Lisa Candage hit a double in the seventh inning, but the Pirates were able to hold Stearns from scoring.
Abby Burdin pitched a full game for the Pirates getting 8 strike outs and walking just 1.
Kristen Marreo pitched 2 innings for the Minutemen with 1 strike out and 3 walks. Ashley Rollins came in in the 3rd inning striking out 3 and walking 9.
PCHS improves to a 2-2 record and Stearns continues winless with a 0-4 record.
