Dexter-- On Sunday, August 21, 2011 the First Annual Amy, Coty, Monica Memorial 5K Race/Walk to Raise Awareness for Domestic Abuse will be taking place in Dexter. This event will also include a 1K Race/Walk for kids.
Amy Bagley Lake and her two children, Coty and Monica were very well liked by so many people. On June 13th they lost their lives to a senseless act of Domestic Violence.Kelly Gay has been friends with Amy for 17 years. Kelly wanted to do something for Amy, Coty and Monica. She decided to go with this event because of the love that Amy had for running.
"I wanted to do something to honor Amy, Coty and Monica," Gay said. "We chose a 5K Race/Walk because Amy liked to run so much.We wanted to do something that could involve kids and adults. So what we came up with was this event where there will be a 1K walk for kids, fourth grade and under. A 5K race for those that want to run and 5K for those who want to walk."
