Bangor---- Dan Beatham (Dexter) threw a masterful game to lead the Husson Eagles to the
North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division Baseball Championship.

Beatham pitched a complete game six hitter to lead Husson to a 3-1 victory over the Castleton State Spartans on Sunday afternoon. Beatham struck out six, walked two and allowed one unearned run. He threw 132 pitches in his nine innings.

With the win, Husson will travel to Castleton for the Divisional Crossover Championship and will face Penn State Burkes on May 7-8.  The winner of that three-game series will receive an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament.

Dylan Foster (Messalonskee) led off the bottom of the first inning with a single. Foster came around to score when Ethan Guerette (Oak Hill) hit a fielders choice. Husson took advantage of a Spartans error during the inning.

Tom Crews (Bangor) led off the second inning by getting hit by a pitch. Crews would score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cody McInnis (Bangor). Crews made things happen on the bases during the inning. He stole second and third base to set up the run.

Husson added a insurance run in the fourth inning. Crews scored his second run of the game after drawing a one out walk. The Spartans were worried about Crews on the bases, most likely due to the stolen bases earlier in the game. Crews went to third base when Brandon Fay threw the ball away when trying to pick Crews off. Kevin Rennick would send Crews home with a sacrifice fly.

Beatham would take care of the rest. The only run that the Spartans scored was unearned in the ninth inning. Beatham was great on the mound and he had plenty of help from his teammates. Guerette made a great play at short, Crews made a great play in center. Rennick did a great job behind the plate. Rennick blocked several balls to prevent base runners from advancing. He also called a great game for Beatham.
