Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. The male and female winner will each receive a t shirt

Winter season- Week 6- January 23rd- January 28th
Male Athlete of the week.
Isaiah Bess- Penquis- Basketball- Scored 21 points in 76-43 victory over PCHS. Scored 27 points in 63-38 victory over PVHS. Bess also won athlete of the week during week three of the winter season.The Patriots are currently 11-2 with five games remaining on the schedule.
Runner up
Christian McCue- Hampden- Basketball- Scored 38 points including hitting eight three pointers in 90-43 victory over Skowhegan.
Third Place
Matt Crane- Dexter- Basketball- Scored 24 points including hitting 4 out of 5 three pointers in 51-32 victory over Bangor Christian. Scored 10 points in 45-34 victory over Central.
