Bangor – Monday night at the Bangor Auditorium, Jillian Woodward recorded a double double and dominated the John Bapst defense to lead the Orono Red Riots to a 57-44 victory in a Class B versus Class C schoolgirl contest.
Woodward recorded a game high 26 points, including 12-for-16 from the foul line, with near 20 rebounds and added five blocked shots in the game as the Crusaders had no answers as to how to stop her.
The Red Riots opened the game with a 10-0 start with 5:48 still left in the first quarter
and never trailed throughout the game. The early deficit proved crucial for John Bapst,
as the Crusaders did finish out the quarter with a 7-3 run to trail by six (13-7) at the
buzzer but they were never able to overcame the early game deficit.

Orono out scored John Bapst 44-37 over the final three quarters with John Bapst gaining a third quarter one point advantage.
Joining Woodward in scoring for Orono was Leya Bryant with 13 points, Katie Smith with five, and Kate Berry with four. Caleigh Paul and Elea Kass each scored three points, and Laura Triandafillou chipped in with two points.
The Red Riots had five 3-point baskets, three by Bryant and one each from Paul and Kass, and they went 18-for-26 (69%) from the foul line.
Paige Martin scored 12 points and Emily Tilton added 10 points to lead John Bapst in scoring. Taylor True scored eight points, Laine Ferrill added five points, and Allison Higgins scored four. Karrie O’Donnell had three points and Victoria Miller added two points.
The Crusaders had four 3-point buckets, three by Martin and one from O’Donnell, and they went 12-for-22 (54.5%) from the charity stripe.
