The University of Maine Black Bears women's basketball team put up a good battle against top ranked Boston University on Friday afternoon.
The Black Bears lost by an average of 32 points in two losses to Boston University during the regular season. In the quarterfinal game on Friday they gave the Terriers all they could handle.
The teams were tied at 33 with 12 minutes remaining. Boston University outscored Maine 19-10 the rest of the way to earn a hard fought 52-43 victory.
Freshman, Courtney Anderson led the Black Bears with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Samantha Baranowski chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds. Maine finishes the season with a 8-23 record.
Chantell Alford led the Terriers with 18 points (8-8 FT). Boston University (23-7) went 21-25 from the free throw line. Maine went 7-13 from the line. The Terriers will take on UMBC in an America East semi-final game on Saturday, March 3rd at 11 AM.
