Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. The male and female winner will each receive a t shirt.

Winter season- Week 2- December 19th- December 31st
Male Athlete of the week
Chase Vicaire- Mattanawcook- Basketball- Scored 65 points in three wins for the Lynx. Scored 16 points and hit the go ahead three pointer in 72-67 victory over Lee. Scored 21 points in 67-43 victory over Stearns. Scored 28 points in 60-50 victory over Sumner.
Runner up
Mat Swazey- Bucksport- Basketball- Scored 18 points in 66-47 victory over George Stevens. Had ten points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 54-38 victory over Dexter. Had 15 rebounds in 34-32 victory over Searsport.
Third place
Isaiah Bess-Penquis- Basketball- Scored 19 points in 61-24 victory over Dexter. Scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 68-33 victory over PCHS.

Koizar captures second athlete of the week

Female Athlete of the week
Sigrid Koizar- Stearns- Basketball- Scored 82 points to led Stearns to a 4-0 week. Scored 27 points in 52-39 victory over PVHS. Recorded 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 40-27 victory over Mattanawcook. Recorded 30 points, seven steals and five assists in 56-38 victory over Houlton. Scored nine points in 51-47 victory over Penquis. Stearns has started the season with a 6-1 record. Koizar also captured athlete of the week honors in the first week of the winter season.
Runner up
Morgan Merchant- Jonesport-Beals- Basketball- Scored 70 points,hauled in 33 rebounds and picked 5 steals over three games this week,including a 37 point,11 rebound effort in the Royalettes win over Vinalhaven.
Third place
Morgan Thompson- Schenck- Basketball- Had 16 points, seven rebounds and six steals in 46-14 victory over Bangor Christian. Had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in 63-22 victory over Lee. Recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four blocks in 54-36 victory over PVHS.
